Santa Susana High School’s award-winning drama department presents its first musical of the year and first musical since lockdown. Urinetown will be debuting at the high school’s Performing Arts Center (PAC) from December 2-4 at 7pm.
The show is set in a Gotham-like city during a terrible water shortage caused by a 20-year drought. Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, Urinetown catapults the “comedic romp” into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit, and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter. With 10 Tony nominations, Urinetown provides a fresh perspective on one of America’s greatest art forms.
Directed by Artur Cybulski, vocal directed by Bevin Abbe, choreographed by Lily Daugherty, assisted by the student production team of high school seniors, Santa Susana High School’s Musical Theatre class brings you a thought-provoking show full of heart, wit, and plenty of laughs.
