The year – 1964. The defense and the prosecution have rested and the all-male jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young Hispanic man is guilty or innocent of murdering his father, where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence. Eleven of the jurors immediately vote guilty. What begins as an open and shut case of murder soon becomes an examination of each of the jurors’ prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused, and each other. This classic tale of one man standing up for what is right is as American as it gets.
The production utilizes the traditional all-male cast on Thursday and Saturday evening performances; Sherman Surgel’s adaptation for a female cast will be staged on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
Tickets are $16 and $15 for preferred seating, $12 for general admission and $6 for seniors and students. Tickets will be available at the door.
