Tony-award winning musical GRAND HOTEL is the next offering from the Ojai Performing Arts Theater. It will be directed by Broadway veteran William Szobody whose extensive career in musicals includes important work on Broadway, for example “Parade”, directed by Hal Prince and many musicals in New York and at UCLA, Pepperdine and UC Irvine. “We are delighted that William has joined the OPAT company. And we really like this show he’s brought us. Ojai is going to love GRAND HOTEL,” said Joan Kemper, Executive Producer and CEO of OPAT.

The show takes place in 1928 Berlin, as Germany approaches the stock market crash having just survived the war to end all wars. The book is by Luther Davis with music by Forrest and Wright (“Kismet”) and Maury Weston (“Nine”). Opening on Broadway in 1990, it ran for 1,000 performances and won 5 Tony Awards, including two for Director/Choreographer Tommy Tune.
