Starring Anna Kotula. DIrected by Steve Grumette. A special holiday benefit show for The Art Center Theater. A lively, funny, and heartfelt one-woman performance that reveals the inward journeys of Emily Dickinson, one of America’s greatest poets. Based on the life of poet Emily Dickinson from 1830 to 1886, and set in her Amherst, Massachusetts home, the play makes use of her work, diaries, and letters to recollect her encounters with the significant people in her life – family, close friends, and acquaintances. Miss Kotula’s interpretation of the role avoids the commonly-held but erroneous image of Dickinson as chaste and depressed in favor of the lively, witty, provocative, and sometimes erotic seen in her work and familiar to those who knew her personally
