It’s 1958. When songwriter Albert Peterson discovers that popular singer Conrad Birdie will be drafted, his on-again-off-again girlfriend Rosie Alvarez comes up with a great publicity stunt – Birdie will kiss one lucky girl on “The Ed Sullivan Show” before he leaves! Sweet girl-next-door Kim MacAfee is chosen and suddenly the entire small town of Sweet Apple, Ohio is thrown under media scrutiny! Will Conrad go through with the stunt? Will Albert finally settle down with Rosie? How can Kim and her family survive the onslaught of Conrad Birdie-screaming fans? Find out how it all turns out in this hilarious Tony Award winning musical!

Hi Cary, Great website! Now, I can finally find all our local theater shows at a glance. “Spelling Bee” opened at Moorpark last night. I didn’t see it on your calender. I will probably be going tomorrow night and next weekend!! I’m sure you can get an interview from Ryan, before he becomes to famous! He will be attending UC Irvine this fall.
Hope to see you their!
Sandy
Hi Sandy!
Yes, thanks for the info. I would love to talk to Ryan about the show and feature him on the site. We also want to keep in touch with all of our VC alums to find out what they’re up to out in the “real world” of “the Thee-Uh-Tuh.”
A key or hotlink to the symbols on the calendar would be helpful
The initials refer to the name of the theater company, which is identified if you click on the show title. There are no other symbols – thanks for your comment!
Where is spelling bee being performed ? I saw a wonderful play called push pull last summer
There are currently no productions of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” scheduled, but stay tuned to this page because one will certainly pop up before long.
