In THE BIRDS mysterious masses of birds have begun to violently attack at high tide driving strangers Nat and Diane to take refuge in an isolated, abandoned house by the sea. With no electricity and scarce food, the tension-inside and out-is palpable. The arrival of a young woman with a mysterious nature of her own complicates the balance in the house. Based on Daphne DuMaurier’s short story that inspired the Hitchcock film THE BIRDS, Conor McPherson’s play is a chilling psychological portrait of fear and alienation.
