Welcome to VC On Stage, Ventura County’s Theater Arts Webzine! Excuse our dust while we tidy the site up a bit, but I wanted to get it online in time for some great premieres this weekend and thought that there’s no better time than the present. As the weeks go on, we’ll be tinkering with the look of the site and growing the content. There are lots of things to look at here, beginning with all of the venues in Ventura County that present musicals and plays. Check out our calendar of events, which will show you what is playing where and when, plus a neat little map to help guide you to places in VC where you might not have been before to see a show.
If you participate in a show in any capacity, whether it is as a performer, musician, choreographer, set designer, or ensemble member, you are eligible to send in a 100-word bio of your work or some kind of statement that tells people what you do and what your passions are. You have the option of also including a headshot if you like, which we will display alongside your bio, and your contact email address, should anyone be interested in using you in a future production. (Note: if you are under 18, you must get approval from a teacher or adult professional in the theater or educational world. No emails from youths under 18 will be displayed.) Look for the “Submit Your Bio” button.
If you have any story ideas, especially if you are a performer in a show, and want to share a unique, interesting experience you’ve had on the stage, send it along and we will consider publishing it. Photographs are always welcome. VC On Stage reserves the right to accept or reject any material for any reason and to edit stories for content, proper grammar, and brevity.
There are opportunities here for theater reviews and people who might be interested in selling advertising. If this strikes your fancy, email me and we can discuss what is required.
Above all, have fun with the site. VC On Stage is meant to bring the theater community together. And speaking for everyone here (…I guess that means just me, for now), break a leg!
