Director Allan Hunt is recreating the famous tribal love-rock musical that defined American culture in that fateful year, 1968. Hair is about a group of young New York flower children who have adopted Central Park as their ‘home’. They question EVERYTHING and are ready to change the world. As their hair grows out and they become wild and free; peace and love wins out over the reality of the Vietnam War.
The Oak Park Performing Arts Alliance serves as Executive Producer. The production team also includes, Music Director Ms. Heidi Cissell, Instrumental Director Mr. Zachary Borquez, Producer Mr. Russ Peters and Assistant Director, Junior-Ryan Speert. The OPHS cast features Senior Parker Greene as Claude and Sophomore Jeremy Orriss as Berger as well as Junior Megan Shoaf and Sophomore Samantha Heller – double cast as Sheila Franklin. Come join the tribe and commune with the new hippies of the OPHS Performing Arts Program, as they sing their way through the ‘far out’ and ‘groovy’ times that gave us such smash hits as Age of Aquarius, Hair and Good Morning Starshine. HAIR, The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical was written by James Rado and Gerome Ragni with music by Galt MacDermot.
Set construction and tech provided by the talented OPHS stage crew under the leadership of Junior Dylan Pfening. Costumes designed and styled by a team of students under the leadership of Senior Jenna Friedman.
