After over 45 years working in West End Theatre, and headlining on cruise ships, I truly believed that my ship had sailed (quite literally) and I began my retirement. However, living here in Ventura County has allowed my thespian sails to get a second wind.
After being offered a small role in Cabrillo Music Theatre’s “King and I”, I was recharged. The show was Broadway quality and right here in my own backyard. I did several more Cabrillo shows including “Cinderella”, “The Sound of Music”, “Annie”, “Once upon a Mattress” and most recently, “1776” where I played Stephen Hopkins. During this time, I also got offered the dream roles of Grandpa Potts in Simi ARTS’ “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and Tarara in VC Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Utopia”.
My latest gift is playing the role of Otto Frank in Lloyd Cooper’s new, original musical “The Diary”. Otto’s role as the warm, caring and overly-protective Jewish father offers a new challenge for me as an actor. Additionally, he gets to sing some wonderful and haunting songs.
