Sophie Tucker was a consummate performer on stage, screen and radio. Her career spanned six decades. She was dubbed the first lady of show business, and was known for her delivery of the “naughty song,” performed with such gusto that many commentators described her as a force of nature. In addition to her imposing presence and legendary artistry, Tucker was also known as a great humanitarian.
Another force of nature, Tony nominee and MAC Award-winner Sharon McNight, brings her critically acclaimed one-woman concert about Tucker to the Rubicon stage for two performances only – Saturday, January 19 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. as part of the 2019 Janet and Mark L. Goldenson Broadway Concert Series.
